Those looking for a family physician may be in luck, as Alberta Health Services welcomes Dr. Maaz Yousuf to Grande Prairie.

Dr. Yousuf is now practising in the Swan City, out of the Grande Prairie Walmart Clinic. He will also offer care at the QE II Hospital, and the Northern Addictions Centre.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Dr. Yousuf to the community,” says Dr. Brian Muir, Zone Medical Director for Alberta Health Services, in a release. “He’s a great addition to our local medical team and will help increase our residents’ access to healthcare in our community.”

Dr. Yousef, along with his wife and two-year-old son, come to Grande Prairie from Calgary. He has been practising in Calgary since 2016.

“My passion for family medicine has led my practice in both rural and urban settings,” Dr. Yousef said, in a release. “I will strive to deliver the best possible care to the community of Grande Prairie.”

He adds this he is eager to get to know his patients here in the Peace Country and to learn more about the community.

Dr. Yousuf was born and raised in Pakistan, where he completed his medical training at Baqai Medical University and his residency at Ziauddin Medical University in Karachi, Pakistan. He came to Canada in 2008, where he started his Canadian career as a clinical researcher at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Yousef joins Dr. Salam Al-Jubouri, a pediatrician who moved to Grande Prairie back in September, as one of the newest doctors to come to the City.
