RCMP search warrant leads to drug and weapons seizures and charges

The Grande Prairie RCMP Drug Unit with assistance from the General Investigation Section and the Crime Reduction Unit conducted searches on two separate apartments and one vehicle November 22.

The searches uncovered drugs and weapons, all of which were seized.

Items seized during the search of one residence include:

  • A stolen 22 calibre handgun
  • A prohibited 32 calibre handgun
  • 20.37 grams of cannabis resin
  • 42 grams of illegal marijuana
  • 28 grams of crystal methamphetamine
  • 8.5 grams of cocaine
  • 22.84 grams of psilocybin
  • 1.55 grams of fentanyl
  • A stun baton

26-year-old Grande Prairie resident Taylor Lawrence was arrested in the vehicle that was searched, where police also seized drugs from Lawrence, including:

  • 3.46 grams of fentanyl
  • 1.42 grams of cocaine
  • 1.26 grams of crack cocaine
  • 15 grams of shatter
  • 40.58 grams of crystal methamphetamine
  • 14 grams of illicit marijuana
  • 41 morphine pills

Lawrence is facing multiple charges, including:

  • Four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of unlawfully distributing it
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
  • Possession of a restricted firearm obtained by crime

Lawrence is to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on December 4.
