Grande Prairie man facing weapons charges after traffic stop in Clairmont

One man has been charged after a traffic stop in Clairmont on December 10.

The Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit conducted the traffic stop after observing a suspicious vehicle during patrols.

The licence plate on the vehicle was determined to be have been stolen, and during the search, the suspect attempted to flee and resist arrest.

Police also found and seized a revolver, a knife, bear spray and a concealed gun holster in the vehicle.

36-year-old Jeante Maddox of Grande Prairie is facing various weapon-related charges, including:

  • Three counts of possession of a weapon contrary to an order
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon p
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by commission of an offence
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Two counts of resisting arrest

Maddox has been remanded in custody and is to appear in court on December 18.
