2020 Dream Home now open to the public

The Rotary Club of Grande Prairie’s 2020 Dream Home Lottery opens to the public December 27, 2019.

The Dream Home has a total of 5,571 square feet of developed space and features five bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms.

Steve Madden, President of the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie, says the money raised from the lottery sales goes back into the community.

“It usually raises over a million dollars every year, some years it gets up to 1.5 (million) but usually it’s well over a million dollars that we turn around and put back into the community into larger projects, and we do divide that up into smaller organizations.”

Madden says projects like the D Coy Community Hub Project and the day shelter are ones that have received funds raised from the Dream Home Lottery.

“What you’ll find in the Dream Home when you come by is you might find a non-profit organization that’s asked for some time to monitor the home for us, you know, let some guests in. They’ll sign up with us to do that and that helps them with their fundraising as volunteers so we’ll pay them to help out with that and then we’ll also have our large and small donations, allocations we call, and [the] smallest is 5,000 dollars and large is up to 50 (thousand) and people can apply to those.”

The Dream Home is located at 5708 Poplar Lane in Taylor Estates, and tickets for the Lottery can be bought in person at the home or online.

Tickets start at $100 each. More information, including a virtual tour of the home, can be found at the Dream Home Lottery website.
