Alberta Justice says the two people charged after what RCMP called a 10-day crime spree last August have been given jail sentences.

Jeremi Daniel Riopka was handed an 18-month jail term December 4 in Grande Prairie court after pleading guilty to a half-dozen counts. That included three of possession of stolen property over $5000, two more of possession of stolen property under $5000, as well as single charges of assaulting a peace officer, failure to comply, and possession of break-in instruments. Forty-five other charges were withdrawn.

Tabatha Whitney Willier was handed a six-month sentence, minus 17 days credit for time already spent in custody, on December 23 in Grande Prairie court. She pleaded guilty to 13 of the 48 charges she was facing, a list that included five counts of failure to comply, three of possession of stolen property over $5000, possession of stolen property under $5000, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, and possession of break-in instruments.

The pair was arrested on August 27, 2019.

Mounties found a stolen pick-up, travel trailer, quad, and what they described as thousands of dollars worth of other stolen property at a campsite in the MD of Greenview.

That also led to a search of a storage unit in Clairmont where more stolen property was recovered.

Riopka and Willier were also charged in connection with an August 24, 2019 incident where a landowner and his dog were bear sprayed after confronting them near his property.
