Sean Trostem, a photographer from Grande Prairie, has had his photo named one of Canada’s best pictures in 2019 by Canon Canada.

Trostem entered a contest on Canon Canada’s Facebook page that saw over 200 people submit their entry for Picture of the Year.

In the end, 25 people had their pictures selected. They were showcased on the Canon Canada Facebook page, one the one by Trostem has received over 300,000 likes.

“It kind of caught me off guard, I try to enter fairly regularly into those contests,” said Trostem. “There was lots of amazing work from around Canada that was submitted. It’s always a surprise to be included amongst some of that great work.”

Trostem also told EverythingGP that the image was taken during a creative session. He had some general ideas of the shoot and was able to have some fun shooting underwater. It’s an area that he’s really exploring in his photography.

There was no actual prize for the contest, it was more of a recognition award.
