County Regional Fire Service responds to two structure fires in two days

Jan 17, 2020 | 3:59 PM

At 12:07 p.m. Friday, fire crews responded to a heavy timber barn fire. Crews have since brought the fire under control and are currently still on scene.

The cause of the fire is still being determined.

At 9:37 a.m. Thursday, County Regional Fire Services were called out to a reported structure fire. Crews from Bezanson, Clairmont, Dunes, Wembley and Teepee Creek responded to a fully involved shop fire at Township 713 and Range Road 41.

Upon arrival, crews observed heavy fire and smoke from the detached shop near the home. Crews were quickly able to bring the fire under control and contained the damage to the involved building.

There were no injuries and an investigation is still ongoing.

The County Fire Service is asking the public to be careful in this inclement weather. Be aware of heaters and ancillary items run in shops and garages. Items with high electrical draw using extension cords pose higher risk, especially when the temperature is below -35 degrees Celsius.
