Extreme cold warning ended in Grande Prairie area

Jan 18, 2020 | 4:22 PM

After one full week of being under an extreme cold warning, Environment and Climate Change Canada has ended the warning for Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge and Valleyview Saturday afternoon.

The warning, as of 4:15 p.m. on January 18, remains in affect for areas north of the Swan City, including Peace River, Grimshaw, Manning and High Level.

However, wind chills in the Grande Prairie area are expected to bring temperatures down to a low of -39 degrees Saturday evening, meaning the extreme cold warning could be put back into place.

Environment and Climate Change Canada is calling for a high of minus 17 for Sunday in Grande Prairie, and a high of minus 11 for Monday.
