Women of influence awards return for 2020

The Women of Influence Awards are returning to Grande Prairie for 2020.

The awards recognize local women who have made a strong impact in their community by promoting equality, providing opportunities for women in the community and breaking barriers in their field.

The Awards also correlates with International Women’s Day. There are three different categories available for nominees to receive.

The categories up for grabs this year are:

• Young Women of Influence (women aged under 30)
• Trailblazing Women of Influence (women aged 30-49)
• Distinguished Women of Influence (women over 50)

The committee normally receives 25 applications for the awards.

“We have a committee that will meet, and we go over all the nominees in the different categories, and we will score them in different areas. Once we decide who gets the top score, those people will be recognized at the lunch,” said Jasmin Marshall, a Program Services Coordinator for the City of Grande Prairie.

People who are nominated are invited to attend an award reception that takes place on March 6 at the Teresa Sargent Hall from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Nominations are open to the public right now at the City of Grande Prairie website.

All applications must be submitted by February 14. After that, those nominated will be contacted by the committee and invited to attend the lunch.
