Outdoor hockey rink coming to Muskoseepi Park

The City of Grande Prairie is building an outdoor rink in Muskoseepi Park that’s dedicated for hockey use.

The rink will be located within the park, southwest of 106 Street and 112 Avenue, south of the Kayak Club.

In a statement, the City says “this new community project maximizes the existing space within Muskoseepi Park to foster recreation and wellness opportunities year-round.”

The outdoor ice surface will be exclusively dedicated for hockey users during the winter season.

The City is providing the initial labour and materials to build the rink. Aquatera will provide the water to flood the area, and then it will be up to community members and users to maintain the rink.

Construction is set to begin at the end of the week.
