Clubroot found in County of Grande Prairie field

Jan 29, 2020 | 3:29 PM

The County of Grande Prairie says the canola disease clubroot has been found in a field in the Webster/Sexsmith area.

It was found during what the County describes as “routine sampling” and that soil testing found the spores that cause the disease in “relatively low numbers.”

County officials say they are working with the farmer who owns the land to “address the appearance of clubroot.”

This disease causes swellings on the root that ultimately kill the plant.
