Storm fall to saints

Storm’s winless skid hits eight in loss to Saints

Feb 10, 2020 | 7:48 AM

The Grande Prairie Storm have tied their longest losing streak of the season.

Swan City native Ethan Edwards scored a goal and added two helpers, as he and the Spruce Grove Saints cruised to a 6-1 win over the Storm on Sunday afternoon at Grant Fuhr Arena.

The loss is the eighth in a row for the Storm (0-5-3 during that span), which ties the streak they set between October 11 and November 2 this season.

This game was the third in three days for Storm, who had fallen in Drayton Valley on Friday and in Sherwood Park on Saturday.

The Storm found themselves down 2-0 midway through the first, after Graham Gamache and Edwards scored for the Saints.

Brody Dale would score for the Storm on the power play late in the first to make it 2-1 after 20. The goal was Dale’s team leading 16th of the season.

The Saints would then pot two goals each in the second and third, outshooting the Storm 33-16 in the final 40 minutes for the win.

The Storm fall to 18-26-7 on the season, sitting eight points back of the Drayton Valley Thunder for fifth in the AJHL’s North Division. The Storm will have a chance to regain some ground on those Thunder as they will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday at Revolution Place.

The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. both nights.
