Leslie Vant Erve is now $1 million richer.

The Beaverlodge resident won a one-million dollar prize on a Western Max lottery ticket (the regional version of Lotto Max), which was a part of the $24 Super Pack she purchased at 5 p.m. on January 7, the evening of the draw, at the Beaverlodge IGA.

She then checked her ticket at a retailer a short while later, and realized she had won the big prize.

In a release, Vant Erve says she was calm, but shocked when she recalled learning she had actually won. She adds the money will be used to pay off her mortgage, go on a holiday, and help pay for her children’s post-secondary education.

“I’ll be able to put the kids through college worry-free,” she said, in a release

Her win comes after she matched all seven numbers on one of the 14 million-dollar draws on January 7. Her winning numbers were 14, 18, 19, 20, 26, 34, and 46.

Vant Erve becomes the second Peace Country lottery winner in January, after it was announced that Bernard Maisonneuve from the hamlet of Guy had won just over $330,000 from the Lotto 6/49 draw on January 4.
