County crews to begin snow clearing on roads

Mar 2, 2020 | 11:27 AM

The County of Grande Prairie is advising motorists to use caution on local gravel and rural roads as crews work to clear snow.

The County wants to remind motorists that during snow and ice clearing, temporary parking restrictions are put in place 24 hours ahead of time, when possible, and that “No Parking” signs will be posted in the areas affected. They say when “No Parking” signage is visible, parking on roadways and streets is not allowed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Snow removal for residential areas will begin in Clairmont from 100 Avenue to 113 Avenue tomorrow morning, and temporary parking restrictions will be in effect from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Crews will then move onto the subdivisions of Whispering Ridge and Westlake Village in Clairmont, then Wedgewood, Maple Ridge and Taylor Estates.

Vehicles parked or left on the affected streets may be ticketed and/or towed. Residents are also being reminded to not pile or push snow from their property into the roads.

The County adds that due to recent snowfall and drifting snow, road conditions are not favourable and motorists are asked to consider postponing non-essential travel or to keep their vehicles stocked with an emergency roadside kit.
