Confirmed COVID-19 case aboard WestJet flight to Grande Prairie

Passengers aboard several WestJet flights, including one that landed in Grande Prairie, have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a statement and tweet from WestJet, a passenger on board flight 3420 from Edmonton to Grande Prairie on Thursday, March 12, has tested positive for the virus.

The company says passengers in rows 1-6 on that flight are considered close contact, and are at risk of exposure. Those individuals are advised to self-isolate for 14 days, and monitor themselves for symptoms.

WestJet has also released a list of recent flights where people who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus were on board:

  • Flight 3240 Edmonton, Alberta – Grande Prairie, Alberta (March 12) Rows 1-6
  • Flight 1157 San Juan, Puerto Rico – Toronto, Ontario (March 11) Rows 2-6
  • Flight 4 London, Gatwick – Toronto, Ontario (March 11) Rows 10-16
  • Flight 3326 Vancouver, British Columbia – Kelowna, British Columbia (March 10) Rows 10-16

The airline advised any guests aboard the above flights to self-monitor for signs of cough, fever and respiratory issues. If symptoms arise within the next 14 days, they are asked to self-isolate, and contact local health authorities
