City, province reminding residents not to call 911 for coronavirus questions

Mar 20, 2020 | 3:42 PM

The City of Grande Prairie says it has been receiving a high number of 911 calls related to the novel coronavirus.

The City and the Province are reminding people to avoid calling 911 for any non-emergency.

The Government of Alberta is urging those who feel ill or worried about possibly having COVID-19 to use the online self-assessment tool, and to not call 911 for questions or concerns about the novel coronavirus.

The province is also asking people to avoid calling Health Link at 811 unless deemed necessary by the online self-assessment or by other high-risk factors, including travel and contact with infected person(s).
