Air Canada and WestJet reduce flights to and from Grande Prairie

Mar 23, 2020 | 10:02 AM

Beginning Monday, WestJet and Air Canada have reduced their flights to Grande Prairie as a response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Air Canada will now be having return flights between the Grande Prairie Regional Airport twice a day from Calgary, while flights between Edmonton and Grande Prairie have been suspended.

WestJet will be flying three times daily, return, from Calgary to the Swan City. WestJet will also maintain one return flight between Grande Prairie and Edmonton.

Air Canada’s reduced flights will last until April 30, while WestJet’s changes are to go until April 21, at the earliest.

“We have proudly served Canadians for more than 24 years and we are committed to providing them critical economic connectivity during this difficult time,” said Ed Sims, WestJet President and CEO, in a release. “Frequency may be reduced, but we pledge to be there for Canadians as long as possible to keep connections open and vital goods moving across our country.”
