Alberta premier to release details on post-COVID economic recovery plan
CALGARY – Albertans are expecting to receive more details today on the government’s plan to recharge the economy once COVID-19 is under control in the province.
Premier Jason Kenney, in a TV speech Tuesday night, said restrictions to slow down the spread of the novel coronavirus must continue, and a limit on public gatherings is expected to last through May.
After that, he said, Alberta will introduce a number of measures with the dual purpose of getting the economy moving again while making sure the virus remains contained.
Those measures are to include mass testing up to as many as 20,000 tests a day and expanded tracing of infection sources.
