Two new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in North Zone Saturday

Premier Jason Kenney has announced there are 69 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Alberta on Saturday, raising the provincial total to 1,569 as of April 11.

Saturday’s new cases includes two new cases in the North zone, both in Big Lakes County.

Currently, there are 48 individuals in the hospital across Alberta, a reduction of one since April 10.

One additional death has been confirmed in the Calgary zone, meaning 40 Albertans have now died from COVID-19 related complications.

Thirty-one more individuals are confirmed to be recovered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 744 recovered cases.

An up-to-date list of confirmed cases in the Peace Region can be found below:

  • City of Grande Prairie: Two cases (Both recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Three cases (All active)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Two cases (One active, one recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 29 cases (19 active, eight recovered, two deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 17 cases (Ten active, six recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Four cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (One active, five recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Active)
  • Mackenzie County: One case (Recovered)

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, did not give the in-person update on April 11, and will not be providing one on Sunday, April 12, but stats will be updated daily.
