Alberta confirms 81 new cases of COVID-19; no new cases in Peace Region

Alberta has confirmed 81 new cases of COVID-19 in the province Monday, bringing the total to 1,732.

Two new cases have been confirmed in the North Zone, neither of which are located in the Peace Region.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, also confirmed two additional deaths in the past 24 hours. One was a woman in her 80’s in a continuing care facility in the Calgary zone, and the other was a man in his 80’s, not in a continuing care facility, also in the Calgary zone.

There have now been 46 recorded deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta.

Dr. Hinshaw also noted 877 recovered cases in Alberta, an increase of 55 since Sunday, April 12.

As stated, the totals in Peace Region municipalities did not change on Monday and can be seen below:

  • City of Grande Prairie: Two cases (Both recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Three cases (All active)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Two cases (One active, one recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 32 cases (21 active, seven recovered, four deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 17 cases (Ten active, six recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Four cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (One active, five recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Active)
  • Mackenzie County: One case (Recovered)
