Adjusted County road bans take effect Wednesday
The County of Grande Prairie is changing it’s weight limit on gravel roads.
As of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, a 50 per cent axle weight road ban will be put in place on all gravel roads within the County. The ban will be in effect 24 hours a day, until further notice.
The County is issuing the road ban due to the spring thaw, which causes the gravel roads to become especially vulnerable to damage.
The road bans are standard procedure for both the Province and municipalities, in order to protect important infrastructure during construction, maintenance, spring thaws, or times when roads are at risk of damage or deterioration.
