City cancels recreational programs and bookings through end of May

Apr 15, 2020 | 11:12 AM

The City of Grande Prairie has cancelled all recreational programs and bookings up to May 31, due to the novel coronavirus.

All outdoor programs, including park use permits and league play, are also cancelled through the month of May.

The City says group activities are still prohibited in outdoor recreational facilities, such as baseball diamonds and outdoors fields. In accordance with public health measures, all gatherings in outdoor public spaces are still limited to groups of 15 people or less, and individuals must observe the two-metre (six foot) physical distancing requirements.

The cancellations and closures are a result of the City’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The City is attempting to prevent the spread of the virus, and maintain the health and wellbeing of it’s citizens.

The City says anyone who had previously paid for bookings or programs will receive credits on their accounts, which can be reviewed at cityofgrandeprairie.perfectmind.com. The City will be processing refunds in the coming weeks, and will issue cheques to individuals who were affected by these cancellations.
