Grande Prairie Airport releases May flight schedule

Apr 20, 2020 | 4:32 PM

The Grande Prairie Airport has announced its updated flight schedule as both Air Canada and WestJet have reduced services to YQU.

Following news that WestJet would be halting its Edmonton-Grande Prairie flights between May 5 and June 4, the airport says the following flights will be available during that time period:

  • Air Canada will have one flight arriving from Calgary on Monday/Wednesday/Friday at 4:00 pm and departing to Calgary at 4:25 pm.
  • WestJet will have one flight arriving from Calgary on Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Sunday at 4:00 pm and departing for Calgary at 4:30 pm.

With those flight times, the airport authority says the terminal building will be open to the public from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on those days. Airport CEO Brian Grant says the airport will still be operational 24 hours per day.

“It is incumbent upon our airport to do our part in reducing the spread of COVID-19 in our region,” said Grant. “We recognize our responsibilities to provide essential service to the region and as such the airport continues to remain open as usual 24 hours per day, seven days per week to all other users.”

Passengers are reminded that public health mandates require them to wear a face mask for all air travel until further notice.
