A man wanted by Whitecourt RCMP on aggravated assault charges is now considered a person of interest in a suspicious death that occurred in Grande Prairie on the morning of April 25.

Police say 39-year-old Telford Randall Howe is now considered a person of interest in relation to an incident on Saturday morning in the South Avondale neighbourhood, near the intersection of 106 Avenue and 102 Street.

RCMP say they were called to assist EMS with an injured man who was being taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.

The 32-year-old victim was later pronounced deceased. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week in Edmonton at the Chief Medical Officer’s office.

Whitecourt RCMP put out a call for Howe’s whereabouts on Monday, after an investigation into an April 16 assault of a Medicine Hat couple at a Whitecourt Hotel led to several charges being laid against him, including aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

RCMP also said on Monday that Howe, who also goes by the names “Gremlin” and “G”, was last believed to be in the Grande Prairie area.

Anyone who has any information about the whereabouts of Howe, or has any information about this case is urged to call the Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-831-2340. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Howe is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
