No new COVID-19 cases reported in North Zone Monday as province adds 70
For the third straight day, Alberta added less than 100 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, while the North Zone saw no increase from Sunday.
There were 70 new cases added for May 4, bringing the province’s total to 5,836. Cases in the North Zone held firm at 221.
However, nine more individuals were reported to have died over the past 24 hours across Alberta, pushing the total number of fatalities to 104 as of Monday. None of the fatalities were reported in Northern Alberta, keeping the death toll at 15.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s chief public health officer, said four of the nine deaths were from the past 24 hours. The other five have come over the last week-to-10 days and have just recently been confirmed by the provincial lab as deaths that resulted from COVID-19.
