No new COVID-19 cases in Peace Region as province adds 19 Monday

There were no new cases of COVID-19 identified in the Peace Region on Monday, as the province added 19 new cases for May 25.

Active cases in Alberta dropped below 800, to a total of 762 as of Monday. A total of 5,979 people have recovered in Alberta, a total of 87 per cent of all cases in the province.

As of Monday, 17 cases are active in the North Zone while 201 are considered recovered. Fifteen people in Northern Alberta have died from COVID-19

In terms of deaths, there were three more fatalities reported in Alberta on Monday to bring the total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 to 138.

Updated case numbers in Peace Region municipalities as of May 25 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: Six cases (Three active, three recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Six cases (Two active, four recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Two cases (One active, one recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 67 cases (Three active, 55 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 36 cases (One active, 33 recovered, two deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Seven cases (Six recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: One case (Fatal)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 33 cases (Five active, 28 recovered)

Hospitalizations decreased by one from Sunday, as there are now 45 people in hospital in Alberta with five of those patients in ICU. Two people are in hospital in the North Zone.

A total of 3,010 tests have been processed at the provincial lab over the last 24 hours. There have now been a total of 239,799 tests completed in Alberta as of May 25, with 218,740 people receiving a test. 16,718 people in the North Zone have been tested for COVID-19 as of Monday.
