One new case of COVID-19 confirmed in City of Grande Prairie

One new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the City of Grande Prairie from the 13 new cases confirmed in the province for May 30.

There are now 601 active cases in the province, with 6,245 having recovered.

One additional death was recorded on Saturday.

However, a previous death that had been attributed to the virus was determined to not be related to COVID-19.

That means the number of deaths related to COVID-19 remains at 143 in Alberta.

Updated case totals in the Peace Region as of May 29 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 13 cases (Ten active, three recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Six cases (Two active, four recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Two cases (One active, one recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 68 cases (Three active, 55 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 36 cases (One active, 31 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Seven cases (Six recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: One case (Fatal)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 33 cases (Four active, 29 recovered)

There are now 53 in hospital due to the novel coronavirus, while five are in intensive care units.
