Five new cases of COVID-19 identified in Grande Prairie

There were 19 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Alberta for June 3, while the City of Grande Prairie saw a jump of five cases on Wednesday.

One more person in the City of Grande Prairie has recovered, meaning there are now 13 active cases of COVID-19 in the Swan City with six recoveries.

There are now 344 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, while 6,587 people have recovered.

Case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 3 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 19 cases (13 active, six recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Six cases (One active, five recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Two cases (Both recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 68 cases (58 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 36 cases (One active, 32 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Seven cases (Six recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: One case (Fatal)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 34 cases (Two active, 32 recovered)

There were two more deaths reported over the last 24 hours in the province, bringing the number of fatalities to 145 as of June 3.

The new case totals come as 4,997 tests were processed at the provincial lab over the past 24 hours. There have now been 271,298 tests processed in Alberta during the pandemic, while 18,845 people have been tested from the North Zone.

Forty-eight people are in hospital with COVID-19 in Alberta as of Wednesday, while six are in ICU.
