Water Line Flushing to take place in small neighbourhood within Beaverlodge

Jun 8, 2020 | 6:00 AM

Residents of a tiny portion of Beaverlodge are being asked to make sure they have enough drinking water for at least 48 hours, as water line flushing will take place Monday in their neighborhood.

The affected area includes both 10th and 11th street, immediately west of 11th avenue, and 11th avenue between those two streets.

Water line flushing will start at 9 am, with a highly concentrated chlorine solution being used that is not safe to be used for washing or drinking.

The water line flushing is expected to be completed by 6 o’clock Monday night.

Town officials say it will be safe at that time to shower and use water for cooking, as long as it is boiled first.

Affected residents will not be able to drink the water until lab analysis confirms that water samples are within acceptable limits, and that it is safe to drink once again.

The testing process takes a minimum of 24 hours to be completed.
