No new COVID-19 cases in Grande Prairie area, province adds 27

There were no new cases of COVID-19 identified in the Peace Region on Tuesday, as the province added 27 new cases for June 9.

While the City of Grande Prairie held at nine active and seven recovered cases, the County of Grande Prairie saw its active case that was added Monday changed to recovered, meaning there are no more active cases as of Tuesday’s update in the County.

Updated case totals for Peace Region municipalities as of June 9 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 16 cases (Nine active, seven recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Seven cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 67 cases (57 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 40 cases (35 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (All recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: One case (Active)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 33 cases (Two active, 31 recovered)

There are now 356 active cases across Alberta, one more than June 8. 6,722 people have now recovered.

Two more people have died in Alberta from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths in the province to 151 as of Tuesday.

There were 4,993 tests processed over the last 24 hours in Alberta, which helped the province surpass 300,000 tests since March. 21; 241 people from Northern Alberta have been tested for COVID-19 as of June 9.

There are two more people in hospital than there were on Monday, as 46 people are now in hospital. Six of those patients have been admitted into ICU.
