No change in Grande Prairie COVID-19 cases as province adds 49

The City of Grande Prairie remained at two active COVID-19 cases on Thursday, as the province added 49 new cases for June 18.

There are now 489 active cases in Alberta, 33 of which are in the North Zone. 6,938 people have recovered in Alberta.

Updated case numbers among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of the day June 17 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 18 cases (Two active, 16 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Seven cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 67 cases (57 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 40 cases (35 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (One active, three recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (All recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: Ten cases (All active)
  • County of Northern Lights: Zero cases
  • Mackenzie County: 33 cases (All recovered)

One more person has died in the Edmonton Zone as a result of COVID-19 according to Alberta Health, meaning 152 people have died in the province as of June 18.

There are now 34 people in hospital with COVID-19 in Alberta, down two from Wednesday. Six people are in ICU, one of whom is from the North Zone.

25,391 people from the North Zone have now been tested for COVID-19 as of Thursday, while 324,964 people across Alberta have received one. A total of 364,729 tests have been processed in Alberta.
