Recovered COVID-19 cases top 7,000 in Alberta Sunday

More than 7,000 people have recovered from COVID-19 in Alberta as of June 21, as there were 31 new cases confirmed on Sunday.

Recovered cases hit 7,018 on Father’s Day Sunday, or 91 per cent of all confirmed cases in the province. As of Sunday there are 534 active cases of COVID-19.

There was once again no change to cases here in the Peace Country. An updated list of cases among area municipalities as of end of day on June 20 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 18 cases (One active, 17 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Seven cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 67 cases (57 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 40 cases (35 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (One active, three recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (All recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: Ten cases (All active)
  • County of Northern Lights: Zero cases
  • Mackenzie County: 33 cases (All recovered)

No new deaths were reported Sunday, keeping the number of fatalities attributed to the novel coronavirus at 152.

There are 33 people in hospital as of June 21 with COVID-19, seven of which are in ICU. Three people remain in hospital in the North Zone, with one of those patients in intensive care.

Over the last 24 hours, 8,330 tests have been processed by the provincial lab. There have now been 389,405 tests completed in the province. 27,109 people have been tested from northern Alberta.
