Alberta announces investment in infrastructure, policies and initiatives to create jobs
The Alberta Government is rolling out several initiatives in an effort to create thousands of jobs in the province, and help the economy recover.
A snapshot of the economy shows Alberta’s unemployment rate has risen to between 20 and 25 per cent in recent months, as the price for oil plummeted, and the COVID-19 pandemic forced the closures of businesses.
Premier Jason Kenney, who made an announcement with Finance Minister Travis Toews on Monday, June 29, says action needs to be taken to protect the lives and livelihoods of Albertans.
Kenney says several initiatives, which were developed with input from Alberta’s Economic Recovery Council, are in the works to help get Albertans back to work, including a historic investment in infrastructure projects.
