TAKING ANOTHER LOOK

EDMONTON – Alberta Health Services is testing old swabs to try to find out whether people who thought they were sick with the flu in the winter could have actually had COVID-19.
The health authority says it is checking 21,000 archived respiratory samples collected between December 1 and early March.
They say the test for COVID-19 wasn’t available when most of the swabs were taken, so they are now being checked to determine whether the virus could have been in the province sooner.
Alberta’s first case was detected on March 5.
