Alberta adds 304 COVID-19 cases over weekend

Alberta added 304 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, while a few new cases were reported in the Grande Prairie area over that time.

As the province completed 28,193 tests between Friday and Sunday, there are now 1,430 active cases in Alberta, while 8,774 people are considered recovered. There were eight more deaths reported over the weekend, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in Alberta to 186.

In the Grande Prairie area, two new cases were reported in the City while two cases moved to recovered. One more case was reported in the County, while three more cases recovered.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day July 26 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 30 cases (Nine active, 21 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 21 cases (Eight active, 13 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Six cases (Five active, one recovered)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (Two active, one recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 73 cases (One active, 62 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 47 cases (42 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Seven cases (One active, six recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: One case (Recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 24 cases (Nine active, 15 recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (All recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: Four cases (One active, three recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 120 cases (54 active, 65 recovered, one death)

Hospitalizations saw a decrease over the last three days, as there are now 88 Albertans admitted to hospital, with 17 in intensive care. In the North Zone, nine people are in hospital, three of whom are in ICU.

There have now been 651,335 tests processed during the pandemic in Alberta, while 45,542 people from Northern Alberta have been tested (an increase of 2,065 people from Thursday).
