Peace Country operations to mark Alberta Open Farm Days

Aug 12, 2020 | 2:15 PM

Some farms in the Peace Country will be open for visitors for Alberta Open Farm Days this weekend.

The Bay Tree Market on 49 Farmer’s Market is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, August 15.

For the following, times to visit have to be booked online ahead of time:

Harmony’s Way Family Farm at Crooked Creek will be offering horse-drawn wagon tours to show how its livestock helps it run an eco-friendly farm. There will also be chances to try and buy the sausage, kombucha and sauerkraut the farm produces. Hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Paradise Valley Honey near Watino has an apiary, cafe and murals to show visitors. It is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Campbell Land near Grimshaw has country stays, crops, gardens, livestock, tours, activities and more. It will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Guidelines from the province on limiting the number of visitors, sanitation, disinfecting and physical distancing have been given to the farms.

Visitors are asked to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer, bring masks if physical distancing is not possible, keep two metres away from people not from the same household when possible, and staying home if they feel sick.
