Three new COVID-19 cases identified in County of Grande Prairie

After processing over 9,000 tests at the provincial lab on Tuesday, there were 82 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Alberta.

Active cases dropped by 62 to 1,107 for the end of day on August 18 in the province. A total of 11,167 cases are considered recovered.

In the Peace Region, there was one new case identified in the City of Grande Prairie, while there were three new cases reported in the County.

There was also one more death in the Mackenzie County area attributed to COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the number of deaths in that area to seven.

That fatality was one of two reported by Alberta Health related to COVID-19 in the province yesterday, bringing the provincial total to 227 as of August 18.

Updated case numbers among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day August 18 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 55 cases (16 active, 39 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 35 cases (12 active, 23 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Eight cases (Seven recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (One active, two recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 73 cases (63 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 47 cases (One active, 41 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 13 cases (Six active, seven recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: Two Cases (Both recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 25 cases (One active, 24 recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (One active, four recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 12 cases (Seven active, five recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 228 cases (46 active, 175 recovered, seven deaths)

Hospitalizations in Alberta held at 48 for Tuesday, with an increase of one in ICU admissions to 12. In the North Zone, there are nine people in hospital with three in ICU.

There have now been 846,681 tests processed in Alberta as of August 18 on a total of 684,041 people. In the North Zone, 57,939 people have been tested, an increase of 492 from the day prior.
