No COVID-19 related fatalities reported in Alberta Wednesday

There were zero COVID-19 linked deaths in the province of Alberta for August 25, while there was an increase of 127 cases on Tuesday.

The rise in case numbers comes as there were 9,239 tests processed on Tuesday at the provincial lab. There are now 1,176 active cases in Alberta to go with 11,799 recoveries, an increase of 85 from the day prior. A total of 235 deaths have been linked to COVID-19 as of August 25 in the province.

In the City of Grande Prairie there were three new cases identified, while three more cases are considered recovered to keep the active case load at 26. It is unknown as of now if the new cases are linked to either of the outbreak sites in the City, a residence operated by Signature Support Services or the Heritage Lodge.

Updated case numbers among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day August 25 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 77 cases (26 active, 49 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 43 cases (14 active, 29 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 11 cases (Three active, seven recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 74 cases (One active, 63 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 48 cases (43 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 12 cases (Two active, 10 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: Two Cases (Both recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 35 cases (Ten active, 25 recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Six cases (Two active, four recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 17 cases (Six active, 11 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 265 cases (54 active, 203 recovered, eight deaths)

Hospitalizations went up by two to 48 in Alberta, with seven in intensive care. The North Zone held at nine hospitalizations and one ICU admission.

A total of 912,302 tests have now been processed at the provincial lab on 729,503 Albertans since March. In the North Zone, there have been 62,595 people tested, an increase of 444 from Monday.
