One new COVID-19 case in City of Grande Prairie, four recoveries in County

Alberta Health has confirmed 130 new cases of COVID-19 in the province for September 2, with one of those cases being identified in the City of Grande Prairie.

There were also two more recoveries in the Swan City to bring the active case total down to 18. That goes along with 68 recoveries and two deaths.

The active case load also took another drop on Wednesday in the County of Grande Prairie as there were four more recoveries there, with no new cases. The County now has two active cases to go with 41 recoveries.

Elsewhere in the Peace Region, there were five new cases identified in the M.D. of Spirit River area, while there was one new case identified in Clear Hills County.

Updated case numbers among Peace Region Municipalities as of the end of day September 2 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 88 cases (18 active, 68 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 43 cases (Two active, 41 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 12 cases (11 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: Eight cases (Five active, three recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 74 cases (One active, 63 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 48 cases (43 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Seven cases (Two active, five recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 12 cases (One active, 11 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 11 cases (Nine active, two recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 58 cases (23 active, 34 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Six cases (All recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 19 cases (Two active, 17 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 315 cases (68 active, 237 recovered, 10 deaths)

There are now 1,415 active cases in Alberta to go with 12,653 recoveries. There were no new deaths reported for Wednesday, keeping the provincial death toll at 242.

Hospitalizations in the province sit at 46, with nine of those individuals in ICU. In the North Zone, eight people are in hospital with no one in intensive care due to COVID-19.

The provincial lab processed 9,547 tests on Wednesday, bringing the total number of tests run to 994,289 on 785,664 Albertans. In the North Zone, 69,402 people have been tested, an increase of 784 on Wednesday.
