County of Grande Prairie adds three new COVID-19 cases, Alberta adds 150

The Province of Alberta reported 150 new cases of COVID-19 for Monday, September 21.

Of the 150 new cases found in the province on Monday, 14,264 tests were completed and active cases grew from 1,424 to 1,565.

Two more people have died as a result of COVID-19 in Alberta, bringing the provincial death toll to 258.

Over the last 24 hours the City of Grande Prairie saw one of its active cases of COVID-19 removed and placed into a different region, dropping the city down to six active cases.

While no new cases were added in Grande Prairie on Monday, Grande Prairie Composite High School announced its first known case of COVID-19 from an individual at the school.

It is the only known active case inside the school. All students and staff that were in close contact with the student who tested positive are self isolating at home for the next 14 days. The school remains open to all other students at this time.

Meantime, the County of Grande Prairie added three new cases for Monday and is now up to nine active.

Updated case totals from across the Peace Country through September 21 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 97 cases (six actives, 89 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 57 cases (nine actives, 48 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 15 cases (three actives, 11 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 11 cases (one active, 10 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 74 cases (zero actives, 64 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 48 cases (zero actives, 43 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 15 cases (three actives, 11 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 25 cases (two actives, 23 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 16 cases (zero actives, 16 recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 87 cases (eight actives, 77 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 10 cases (four actives, six recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 54 cases (25 actives, 29 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: One case (zero actives, one recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 391 cases (45 actives, 334 recovered, 12 deaths)

Hospitalizations and Intensive Care Unit patients remained unchanged from Monday. Across the province, 51 people are in hospital and nine people in the ICU.

The North Zone saw one less COVID-19 patient in hospital. There are now six people in hospital in the region.

In totalm, 1,229,939 tests have been completed by Alberta Health Services, with 942,342 Albertans having been tested.
