AHS’ mobile mammography unit heading to Hythe October 19-21

Sep 28, 2020 | 11:25 AM

Alberta Health Services’ mobile mammography unit will be heading to Hythe later in October.

The unit will be stationed at the Hythe Legion from October 19-21, for women aged 50-74 in that area to be able to book an appointment to receive a mammogram, without having to travel to far.

“A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast and has proven to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer,” reads a release from AHS. “Early detection allows for a greater number of options for treatment and a better chance of survival.”

Anyone wishing to get screened can book an appointment by calling 1-800-667-0604.

The mobile unit is currently stationed at the Fairview Health Complex until Saturday. AHS’ mobile mammography unit will then be in the following Peace Country locations later in October.

  • Spirit River – October 5-10
  • Manning – October 13-15
  • Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement – October 16
  • Hythe – October 19-21
  • McLennan – October 22-24
  • High Prairie: October 31- November 7
