Another Grande Prairie area product has been selected in the 2020 NHL Draft.

Ethan Edwards, who was born in the Swan City, has been selected by the New Jersey Devils with the 120th pick in the fourth round of the Draft.

Edwards is 18 years old and a 5’10” defenceman who played for the Spruce Grove Saints of the AJHL last season.

Last year was classified as his rookie year for the Saints, where Edwards registered 33 points in 50 games.

His strong play this past season earned him a scholarship at the University of Michigan, which he is expected to attend in the 2021-22 season.

Edwards follows Kaiden Guhle as the second player with Grande Prairie ties to be selected in the 2020 Draft. Guhle was taken in the first round on Tuesday night by the Montreal Canadiens.

Edwards started playing in Grande Prairie Minor Hockey at the Initiation level in 2007-2008, on the same Anodyne Chiropractic team as fellow 2020 draftee Garin Bjorklund. His last year in the Grande Prairie system was 2014-15.
