One new COVID-19 case, 11 recoveries in City of Grande Prairie

The City of Grande Prairie reported just one new case of COVID-19 for October 27, while there were also 11 recoveries reported to drop the City’s active case total by ten over the last 24 hours.

The Swan City had 93 active cases as of the end of day Tuesday, while the County of Grande Prairie added two new cases and two recoveries to hold the active case total there at 19.

The City and County now have a combined 112 active cases. The City of Grande Prairie surpassed the threshold of 100 active cases between the two municipalities on Monday to bring the Temporary Mandatory Face Covering (Mask) Bylaw into force for all indoor public spaces in the City.

Elsewhere, there were six recoveries reported in the Spirit River area, which removed it from the provincial watch list. The City and County of Grande Prairie continue to remain on the list.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day October 27 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 255 cases (93 active, 160 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 88 cases (19 active, 69 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 22 cases (five active, 16 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Six cases (one active, five recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 27 cases (six active, 21 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Four cases (one active, three recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 76 cases (one active, 65 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 53 cases (one active, 47 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 23 cases (four active, 18 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 34 cases (six active, 28 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 17 cases (one active, 16 recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 96 cases (two active, 93 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Nine cases (all recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 59 cases (one active, 58 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 414 cases (six active, 395 recovered, 13 deaths)

Alberta added 410 new cases for Tuesday after 10,631 tests were processed at the provincial lab, creating a 3.8 per cent positivity rate. Tests for 477 people from the North Zone were processed on Tuesday, bringing that total to 121,803 since March.

Hospitalizations remain low in the North Zone, with four people in hospital, two of whom are in intensive care. Hospitalizations in the province increased from the day prior, as 125 people are now in hospital, 115 of which are in Calgary and Edmonton. A total of 19 of all Albertans in hospital are in intensive care.

Four more deaths were linked to COVID-19 in the province on Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 313 since March.

There are 4,793 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, 324 of which are in the North Zone. A total of 21,459 people are considered recovered from the disease.
