The city is hosting a special online Q & A session this Tuesday with business owners and managers, that may still have questions concerning the Face Covering By-Law.

Representatives from City Enforcement Services, Health and Safety and Economic Development will be on hand, as well as an external HR expert.

City Economic Development Manager Rebecca Leigh says they have had a number of businesses reach out to them since the Mandatory mask by-law was activated on October 26th.

“Just looking for some clarity on the by-law, and what that means for their operations, and what their roles and responsibilities are. So we quickly put together this session in response to some of those questions.”

“We are looking to provide a little background and clarity in terms of the roles and responsibilities for businesses are, and what this means for them and their operation.”

“They have been asking us where the mask by-law fits into other goivernment regulations from other levels of government, and how they should be handling the masks with their staff and customers. We want to make sure that we clear up a lot of that uncertainty and provide some reassurance and offer some support to local businesses.”

The 20 spots for Tuesday’s session were filled almost immediately after the event was announced, which Leigh says is a good indication that their are a lot of questions and uncertainty from the business community.

She adds they are Keeping the sessions small so that business owners and managers all have the chance to ask questions about operations, and implementing the by-law.

Any businesses that missed out on this session are asked to sign up for a waiting list, as Leigh says more sessions will be organized in there is enough interest.

You can register for the waiting list here.

Leigh adds that a major responsibility for local businesses is to post signage regarding the by-law.

That signage is provided by the city, and can be picked up at a number of locations, including the Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce, the Grande Prairie Downtown Association, City Hall, and the City Service Centre.
