As three healthcare workers have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Fairview Health Complex, Alberta Health Services has declared an outbreak at the facility.

AHS says in a tweet Saturday morning that one patient case is currently being investigated, and contact tracing for anyone potentially exposed to these individuals is ongoing.

“FHC remains a safe place to receive care – there is no increased risk to patients coming to the hospital,” reads the announcement from AHS.

“Any patient with symptoms, or who has tested positive for COVID-19, is isolated and treated in designated rooms.”

AHS adds that treatment, care and support for patients will continue as normal. As an added safety measure, only designated support persons will be allowed to visit in end-of-life or other extenuating circumstances.
