Hythe & District Agricultural Society announces plans for new spray park

Nov 23, 2020 | 3:55 PM

The Village of Hythe will soon be home to a new spray park.

On November 18, members of the Hythe & District Agricultural Society announced the name and layout for the new spray park in the village.

The new facility will be located in the same location as the old pool, which was closed eight years ago because the cost to maintain the facility was too high.

“We have the plans all done, we have the company locked in, we have over half of our funding and are really hoping that we can open in the summer of 2021,” explained Renay Morgan, the Secretary for the Hythe & District Agricultural Society.

According to Morgan, fundraising on the new spray park project has been going on for quite a while.

Since the pool closed down, the Ag. society has been looking to get something similar up and running.

Morgan tells EverythingGP that for years, the organization has been continuing to save money from small grants in order to build a facility like this.

“Once we lost our pool, we wanted to offer something that was feasible for families to use. It will be free for the community.”

Morgan says that the plan is to hopefully open the spray park in the summer of 2021. However, she adds that they still have some more fundraising to do before the project can officially get the go ahead.

“We just implemented and fed out an online 50/50 and then the rest of our fundraising will depend on the COVID restrictions, in terms of what we can and can’t do.”

The spray park will be called the Mustang Spray Park, in honour of the longtime Hythe Mustangs hockey team, which once played in the North Peace Hockey League.

The 50/50 and any updates regarding the spray park can be found on the spray park’s Facebook page.
