Budget Talks

Peace Region residents able to participate in provincial budget telephone town hall

Nov 30, 2020 | 12:37 PM

The Provincial Government is holding three telephone town halls this week so that Albertans can have their say in the planning of Budget 2021.

The first town hall goes on Monday, November 30, and will be open for communities north of Edmonton, including those in the Peace Region.

The next will be held for those in central region on Wednesday, and on Thursday those in southern Alberta will be able to participate.

“We are developing Alberta’s budget in a time of incredible challenge, which makes hearing from all Albertans even more important,” says Travis Toews, MLA for Grande Prairie – Wapiti, Minister of Finance and President of the Treasury Board.

“Our mid-year fiscal update showed some improvement but the road to recovery is long. Over the past year Alberta has been hit hard, but we are also the most resilient province in the nation. I look forward to hearing from Albertans as we tackle these challenges together.”

The town halls will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. each day and those who wish to participate are asked to register online in advance.

The Provincial Government is also encouraging the public to fill in the online budget survey, which will be open until Friday, December 4.
