Two more lotto winners in Grande Prairie

Grande Prairie has had the luck of the draw over the last few weeks when it comes to playing the lottery.

This as two more major lottery winners were announced in the City of Grande Prairie, following Clement Kawi’s $1 million win announced last week.

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation says Bernie and Jane Dennis scratched their way to a $500,000 win late last month on a 200X MULTIPLIER ZING ticket they picked up at the East Star Convenience Store in Grande Prairie.

Bernie was the one to uncover their win, which was the third-top prize available on the $20 ticket.

He wanted to confirm what he thought he was seeing, so he headed out to a local store to use their ticket checker, which verified the win.

“I told my wife ‘we’re rich,’” he laughed while claiming their prize. “I ran home immediately after I scanned it.”

Jane added, “We’re still a little in disbelief”.

The couple says they plan to use their windfall to purchase a new vehicle and help with an upcoming move.

Meantime, Gordon Aebly is enjoying his $162,593.60 prize after his LOTTO MAX ticket matched six of the seven winning numbers (4,6,18,27,28,30,40) and the bonus number (13) for the November 10 draw.

Aebly picked up his winning $26 Quick Pick ticket from Wally’s Mini Mart a couple of days before the draw.

He discovered his win at the same store when he used the ticket checker a few times before passing his ticket over to the cashier to be validated on their terminal.

“I was surprised, for sure!” laughed Aebly. “I could barely believe it.”

Aebly says that now that he’s claimed his winnings, he plans to use them to pay down some debt.

“[It’ll be good to] put my mind at ease,” he noted.
