A Fox Creek man wanted on warrants out of Grande Prairie and Fox Creek has been charged after allegedly being involved in a break and enter in Whitecourt earlier this week.

Whitecourt RCMP responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle in Woodlands County just after 7:30 a.m. on December 22. They located what was determined to be a vehicle stolen during a break and enter at a Whitecourt business overnight.

The driver was arrested and the vehicle was then searched. Police say they located and seized what is believed to be stolen property from the break and enter, as well as suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Thirty-seven-year-old Matthew Edmund Duffy of Fox Creek is charged with:

  • Possession of an illegal substance (x2)
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000
  • Failure to comply (x5)

Duffy was remanded into custody and is set to appear in Whitecourt Provincial Court on January 6.

He was also charged back in August of 2020 in connection to a string of break and enters in Fox Creek.
