Feb 3, 2021 | 3:21 PM

A man is now in custody following an over eight-hour standoff between the High Prairie RCMP and the suspect at a home on the Peavine Metis Settlement.

Authorities say they were called to the home at around 11 p.m. on February 2 on a firearms-related complaint. Police found that upon arrival, all occupants of the home had safely exited except for one individual who remained inside.

High Prairie RCMP contained the home while they awaited further assistance from the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the High Prairie RCMP Police Service Dog (PSD).

ERT arrived at approximately 8 a.m. to take over the situation. About 30 minutes later, the subject who was inside the home surrendered to authorities without incident.
